CHINAPLAS 2016: Open Forum returns to connect designers and share innovative ideas
The “Open Forum” is returning to Design x Innovation at CHINAPLAS from April 25-28, 2016. There, participants will meet with renowned designers and experts from industrial design, electrical and electronics, lifestyle, and mobility sectors, to gain insights and brainstorm design ideas that meet fast-changing market needs and user experience expectations.

In the electronic and electricals sector, key speakers include Mr. Chris Lefteri, Head of Chris Lefteri Design; Mr. Owen Li, Senior Mechnical Engineer in Notebook Mechnical Engineering Development, Lenovo China; Mr. Lu Yao, Senior Color Material & Finishing Designer, Suzhou Engineering Group, Logitech Technology (Suzhou); and Mr. Jay Piao, Creative Director, Haier Open Innovation Center. Mr. Lefteri, an internationally recognized leading authority on materials and application of materials in design, will speak on the topic of “The Future & How to Get There” and highlight the future trends in consumer electronics. Mr. Piao will focus on collaborative design and share case studies of successful integration of technology and design that led to new forms of collaborative creativity.

In the mobility sector, key speakers include Mr. Simon Loasby, Design Director of the Volkswagen Group China and Mr. Yang Wenqing, General Manager of LOE DESIGN. Mr. Loasby will speak on the topic of “Creativity, Styling, Design”, and share his insights on design at Volkswagen, the importance of design and future predictions. Mr. Yang will speak on the topic of “Bicycle Design for Personal Green Commuting in City”.
In the lifestyle sector, key speakers include Ms. Cristina Kountiou, Professor of Fashion and Fashion Marketing Management Savannah College of Art and Design Hong Kong; Kevin Ma, Product Creative Deputy Director, Markor Home Furnishings Co.; Mr. Patrick Riley, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Greater China, Interface; and Mr. Warren Li, Technical Manager, Greater China, Interface. Ms. Kountiou will be speaking on the topic of “Thinking Outside the Box with Sustainable Design”.
In the industrial design sector, key speakers include Ms. Mo Jiao, Lecturer, College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University; and Mr. Lian Zhen, General Manager of LKK Design Co. Ltd, Shanghai, who will speak about smart product designs.
