Polyethylene: Sabic declares force majeure on PE-LD

Baspar / Iranpolymer Once again, it is “technical difficulties beyond our own control” that are causing a force majeure in polyethylene – this time declared by petrochemical company Sabic (Riyadh / Saudi Arabia) on July 7, 2021. According to a customer letter that KI has, the company was forced to shut down one of two plants for PE-LD in Geleen, the Netherlands.

The production of the types “LDPE 2402CX0” and “LDPE 2502X0” as well as “LDPE 2600H0” is particularly affected. The first two are materials for EPE foams, while the latter is an easy-flowing blown film material for the extrusion of shrink and packaging films, for example for mineral water containers.
