Portfolio expansion with new recyclate-based PP and PE grades

Iranpolymer/Baspar Ultrapolymers Germany, a subsidiary of the international plastics distributor Ultrapolymers, has expanded its portfolio of post-consumer and post-industrial recyclates (PCR, PIR) with new grades from LyondellBasell, which are particularly suitable for hard and soft packaging, containers and films.

Under the CirculenRecover brand, LyondellBasell groups the recycling types of its polyolefin compounds, for the production of which corresponding plastic products are shredded by means of mechanical processes such as grinding or shredding. In order to always offer its customers the full range of sustainable ways to reduce CO2footprint, the distributor Ultrapolymers is continuously developing its extensive portfolio in this area and has now added new CirculenRecover rPP and rPE-HD grades.

CirculenRecover PP189P is a polypropylene available in grey and ivory colours with an MFI of 25 g/10 min and a PCR content of more than 85%. Thanks to its high impact resistance and rigidity even at low temperatures, it is suitable for applications such as garden furniture, suitcases, boxes as well as cooling and warming containers, among others.

CirculenRecover HD45U06 Natural is an rPE-HD with 40% PCR content, which consists exclusively of collected industrial packaging. Color, performance, processability and odor are largely the same as the corresponding characteristics of virgin PE-HD. Due to the high rigidity in combination with high impact strength and good stress crack resistance, single-layer intermediate containers and canisters including IBC containers and UN-approved packaging for the transport of dangerous goods are among the preferred areas of application.

CirculenRecover GX5110 is a PE-LD made from 100% PCR. With its high transparency, it is suitable for packaging films and also for shrink applications. Thanks to its low gel content, it is easy to process and enables high product stability.

In total, LyondellBasell’s CirculenRecover recyclate grades include PE-HD grades for blow molding and injection molding, as well as PP injection molding grades with different melt viscosities. The HDPE grades are available in Silver and Ivory, the PP grades in Ivory and Grey and are suitable for customized color settings. Odour-reduced HDPE Plus grades complement this series.
