Production of polymeric nano-membranes by Iranian researchers: solution to fight with water problems

Baspar/Iranpolymer- Researchers from Kermanshah industrial university were succeed to produce polymeric nano-membranes with ability of heavy metals removal (such as copper) from industrial sewage.

In critical situation of Iran water resources, it's essential to pay attention more about problems that are related to industrial sewage and try to filter and refine these water resources. In recent years, membrane technology especially in nano fields, help more in filtration and refinery of industrial sewage.

According to Dr. Ghaemi, membrane separation is an important method to filter industrial sewage. Using nanoparticle can improve performance of membranes. Nanoparticles improved hydrophilicity characteristic of polymeric membranes that cause increment of heavy metal removal. In addition to, suitable distribution of nanoparticles in membrane matrix is very important and effect on membrane performance directly. This point was paid attention in this research.

In this study, effect of different concentrations of Alomina (nanoparticle that was used in this research) on hydrophilicity, porosity and finally performance of membranes, were investigated. Part of these conclusions was published in Applied Surface Science magazine (Page: 221-228, 2016).
