Raw material markets in the USA: Bumpy restart of polymer production

Baspar / Iranpolymer  After the massive outages caused by the onset of winter in large parts of the USA, there are obviously delays in restarting refineries, petrochemical complexes and the downstream polymer production lines. A renewed delivery of US products to European customers as well, including the already extended delivery times, can hardly be expected before April.

How extremely tense the situation in the USA is at the moment can be illustrated by an overview that the polymer consulting and trading company RTi (Fort Worth, Texas / USA) published on Thursday night: For the aforementioned 44 petrochemical plants that are in Texas and Louisiana are operated by 21 companies, 22 force majeures are currently in place. 17 other plants are in the shutdown, only three have indicated their status as “restarting”.
