Teknor Apex joins Cyclyx as consortium’s newest member
Iranpolymer/ Baspar Teknor Apex has become the newest company to join consortium-based plastic feedstock management company Cyclyx.
The U.S.-based company produces products like vinyl, thermoplastic elastomers, nylon, and colorants. As a member of Cyclyx, it will be able to take part in customised takeback programmes and innovations, including plastic waste-based circular feedstock specifications tailored to its specific product pathways. This should help the almost-century old company work towards its goal of diverting 75% of its waste from landfills.
Cyclyx draws on over 1500 post-use plastic chemical characterisations to assesses each source of waste plastic to understand its chemical profile. It then uses artificial intelligence and big data to sort those profiles into the various mechanical and chemical recycling pathways that the plastics can be used for. Finally, the company aggregates and pre-processes the products according to costumers’ needs.
The resulting products include recycled polystyrene (PS), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polypropylene (PP), and polyethylene (PE). Cyclyx processes are ISSC PLUS certified, ensuring their compliance with sustainability and traceability requirements along the supply chain.

Cyclyx was founded in 2020 by advanced chemical recycler Agilyx and by ExxonMobil Chemical, which owns 25% of the company. Some of its members include industry heavyweights like Sabic, LyondellBasell, Dow, Ineos, Chevron Phillips Chemical, Americas Styrenics (AmSty), and Braskem.
