Together, Alterra proves its technologies capabilities and Viva Energy strengthens their\u00a0case for a permanent soft plastics recycling facility in Australia.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;The\u00a0successful trial confirms that our technology can be integrated seamlessly with conventional\u00a0refining systems and deliver high-purity outputs from challenging plastic waste streams,&#8221; said\u00a0Valerio Coppini, Chief Commercial Officer of Alterra. &#8220;We are\u00a0excited to partner with Viva Energy to support them in their journey to validate the processing of\u00a0soft plastics pyrolysis oil at the Geelong Refinery. We see this as an important step in bringing\u00a0scalable, sustainable plastic recycling to Australia. This is about more than waste diversion\u2014it&#8217;s\u00a0about redefining the lifecycle of plastic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Alterra\u2019s technology works by breaking down post-consumer plastics into their original chemical\u00a0building blocks which can then be repurposed as new plastics and in various chemical\u00a0productions. The plastic pyrolysis oil produced in the refinery at Viva Energy\u2019s Geelong refinery\u00a0is indicative of the sort of materials that might be produced in the future at a permanent soft\u00a0plastics recycling and refining facility in Australia.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Bill Patterson,\u00a0Executive General Manager of Refining at Viva Energy, added, &#8220;Over many\u00a0decades the Geelong Refinery has played an important role in making fuels and other products\u00a0which are essential to our way of life in Australia.
