ARLANXEO: HNBR elastomers for low temperature applications developed / Two grades to be introduced at “K 2016”

Two hydrogenated acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (HNBR) grades for low temperature applications will be introduced at “K 2016” by synthetic rubber producer Arlanxeo, the 50:50 joint venture between Lanxess and Saudi Aramco established in April this year.
“Therban” LT 1707, a fully saturated grade, and LT 1757, a partially saturated grade, both offer the ability to fulfil low temperature requirements to -40 °C, while maintaining the performance of this elastomeric rubber class.
Arlanxeo said it is working on the development of a generation of “Therban” elastomers to meet the market need for a further improved balance between low temperature properties and oil resistance. The company expects that these products will extend the boundaries for low temperature applications to well below -40 °C, while maintaining high oil resistance.
