IRANPOLYMER/ BASPAR “Unpredictable damage” is the reason for the failure of the styrene and propylene oxide plant at Lyondell Covestro Manufacturing Maasvlakte VOF in Maasvlakte, the Netherlands, on February 11, 2021. A spokesman confirmed both the failure and the directly associated force majeure report for Styrene. The investigation of the causes has begun, as has the search for solutions for customers. No information is yet available about the duration of the plant shutdown. The already heavily polluted end products ABS and resins are likely to come under further pressure.
